We have 赤 = a ka = red オレンジ = o re n ji = orange 黄色 = ki i ro = yellow 緑 = mi do ri = green 青 = ao = blue 紫 = mu ra sa ki = purple ピンク = pi n ku = pink 黒 = ku ro = black 白 = shi ro = white 茶色 = cha i ro (= tea color) = brown 銅 = dou = bronze ( as in Bronze medal) 銀 = gin = silver ( “bank” in Japanese is Ginkou, where you keep the silver!) 金 = kin = gold (Friday is “kin youbi” gold day, maybe you get paid on a Friday?)
